Lourdes by Faustin Figaret

This weekend was the first World Cup of the season in Lourdes. It is always very pleasant to participate in a world cup in France and even more when it is the first of the season.

The track was technical and very fast, it was really nice to ride. Some portions were different from previous years which made the track even more natural. The beginning was rocky, while the lower part had dirt and roots.

IMG_3737 On Friday training went pretty well. I set the bike with telemetry (VT Technology). This is the acquisition of embedded data. Thanks to this we can know the speed of the bicycle, the operation of the suspensions, the balance of the bike and many other technical aspects. I take my marks on this track and finish 6th of the times trainings.

On Saturday we have some training runs and then qualifying. You have to be in the top 80 to reach the final. I finished 22nd with a run on the brakes in order to secure my place in the final.

On Sunday the final was quite special since the rain arrived for the last 10 riders. I realize a good run on the upper part then I lose a lot of air in my rear wheel which obliged me to save the last minute of the race in order to get down !

With this mechanical and thanks to the weather that played in my favor, I finished 15th in the first round of the 2017 World Cup.

I am very happy with the weekend in general and it encourages me for the sequel. Next world cup in Fort William where I would normally ride with plate 17.
