We’ve been testing Light Bicycle for over a year now and these wheels improved our riding in so many ways. We like to use AM728 in front and EN728 in the rear, which is 50g extra weight but that can really hold on to to those hard impacts. Although we were a bit hesitant at the beginning, we’ve been putting hundreds of kilometers under these rims, including technical and fast descents, and they keep running smooth. We usually do some standard maintenance which includes spoke tightening but nothing out of the normal routine as our riders race at regional, national and internacional levels.
Surprisingly, riding carbon wheels makes our bikes stiffer and obviously faster, especially as we all run tubeless and adapt pressures to the kind of riding we’ll be doing: racing, training or photo shooting. The 28mm inner width makes it perfect for the hard case enduro tires we usually run as well. When it comes to racing, our focus test is in Madeira Island, where you find some of the most varied terrains on Earth, which includes steep, technical, long and rocky descents. The wheel sets response is top notch in every situation described, making it comfortable but at the same time rigid.
One of the best features about Light Bicycle is to build our own wheels online, where we’re able to choose from a wide range of hubs, spokes, spoke heads, color decals and other details that really make it a unique brand. Every rider rides its own way but Light Bicycle trademark makes it easier to adapt to me – a slow and heavy photographer that loves to have fun on the bike – or our riders – that are normally riding as fast as they can.
