Another year done, the race scene is pretty much over and it’s the off-season, winter, wet weather and cold days are drawing in on us all. That only means one thing; It’s Rogate Downhill’s annual race. Each year it gets better and better for sure! When this series first started back in 2012 mother nature thought otherwise. It snowed big time, the event was called off as it was just too icy in places and bitterly cold. Five years or so on and now look at it, 25 degrees more or less, times are changing as they say.
We all had the pleasure of having Deathgrip movie star/Rampage legend and World Cup racer Brendan Fairclough and his crew of fast humans, we also had the pleasure of having Mr Deaks gracing the sandpit of Rogate with his friendly warm and happy to be out the house attitude, this was going to be a good day!
It’s amazing having all these great people come out to these races, good food, teas and coffees all day thanks to these epic humans.

Now, this is where things heat up a bit. We all know one thing, and that’s being fans of such riders on the World Cup circuit, having spent some time out on the battlefront across Europe, and seeing these lads race at that level is just mind-blowing, but having them on the doorstep of a local race is just exceptional to see and brings back why we all ride! Fun and supporting grassroots racing, let’s face it Rogate has taught me a thing or two over the years!
3rd place in this tough category and well earned is Jack Noy and I’m ever so sorry not grab a photo of him. Must have been changing lenses or having a watering break.
2nd place goes to TeamTRG’s Thomas Davies on his DH rig and being off the bike for some time with other commitments he’s no slouch and coming second with a blistering time of 39.739 he had a very fast human in front of him.
1st place goes out to a rider that has so much style it’s ridiculous and so fricking amazing to watch, none other than Brendan Fairclough!! His line choice on this track was insane and that’s why he’s on that level of riding finding the fastest and most difficult lines that leave us standing there in amazement, Bren coming across the line in 39.059 that’s fast! Good on Thomas being that close!
19-29 Men’s Podium
This made us all laugh…Brendog won some……Deathgrips, haha well he gave them away to a young lad and the look on his face was a picture to say the least!! Plus all the young shredders got a set of Scott goggles delivered by the main man himself, what a great man!
Onto the old-ish lads well my age haha, this is a great Cat, with ex-racers from all sorts BMX, DH, MX etc. so a great mix of great people and a mix of skills even a Commando.

It’s over the older boys now, they still hold their own and very fast these gents!
3rd place goes out to TeamTRG’s Jonny Broughton, with his chest infection, and driven from Gatwick that morning after dropping his misses off at the airport, that’s a hats off moment for sure.

1st place for ex-Elite DH racer Adam Bishop and he was pinned!
40+ Men’s Podium

2nd place is Miss shredder and all round Enduro dominator riding for Morvelo clothing, Francie Arthur.
